My first big girl book signing...

…was this past weekend and WOW!
I traveled to Carmel, Indiana (land of the roundabout/traffic circles, apparently) for the Indy Author Event. I was pretty excited, as this was my first really big signing event. I’ve done smaller book signings (mostly local/semi-local) so I thought I knew what to expect.
I did not, in fact, know what to expect.
Yes, there was the rush of getting my table ready and hoping (praying!) that hadn’t forgotten something. The taking deep breaths and getting everything just right.

Then the doors opened.
Y’all, those VIP ticket holders came TO PLAY. They hit those doors with empty rolling carts for all the books they’d buy and with coffee in hand, making a beeline for where they wanted to start. Every so often you’d see them stop to readjust their battle plan by studying the provided table map, then they’d hitch up the handles on those carts and continue on their quest.
It was kind of impressive, I’m not gonna lie.
The general admission ticket holders were no less enthusiastic. I think, when it was all said and done, there were between three and four hundred tickets sold to this event. And I could tell because it got LOUD. My voice is by no means quiet and I still felt like I was yelling as I was talking to folks stopping at my table! I was on the verge of losing my voice there for a little bit.
All in all, I had a pretty good time, meeting new readers and other authors (especially ones I’ve been friends with on social media for so long!). Now, I didn’t have a lot of time to take a ton of pics or video (and what I have might not be great) but here’s a quick peek at the event in full swing!
(Yes, I had to get a picture of one of the many FREAKING CHANDELIERS that were in this space. So fancy!)
Oh, and local readers, my next event is at the Hopkins County Madisonville Public Library’s annual Author’s Reception on May 17th. I hope to see you there!
