At Last

It's finally here. The day I've been working towards for months has arrived.

My first draft of my first novel is done.

I've accomplished something I've dreamed about since I was in junior high. I've written a book. It may not be a great piece of literature, but it's mine. I did it.

I had to announce it to my fellow writers in the Facebook group I belong to. The ones that have been my support group, the ones I vent to when it felt like it was all going wrong, laughed with when we all needed to be a little silly to burn off the frustration. The ones that, without their support, I wouldn't have made it as far as I did. As I was typing the post, I was crying. Not tears of sadness. Tears of joy and accomplishment. I knew if anyone understood that, it would be them. My many heartfelt thanks to them. :)

And now the real work begins. The many, many hours of editing, revising, rewriting. The days and weeks of waiting for test readers to give me feedback, so I can edit, revise, and rewrite some more. I'm looking forward to it, if for no other reason than I am now more committed than ever to see this through to publication. But for now, I'm going to pat myself on the back for completing what I've reached for, and then tell the world about this thing I've accomplished. It's going to be fun, especially given that no one knew I was writing in the first place. ;)
